Blackjack
Blackjack has become one of the most common casino games in the last 100 years and has spread all over worldwide. Blackjack is a casino banked game, meaning that players compete against the house rather than each other. The target is to get a hand total of closer to 21 than the dealer without going over 21 (busting). At the start of a Blackjack game, the players and the dealer receive two cards each. The players' cards are normally dealt face up, while the dealer has one face down and one face up.
How To Play Blackjack
When playing Blackjack the numeral cards 2 to 10 have their face values, Jacks, Queens and Kings are valued at 10, and Aces can have a value of either 1 or 11. The Ace is always valued at 11 unless that would result in the hand going over 21, in which case it is valued as 1. A starting hand of a 10 valued card and an Ace is called a Blackjack and beats all hands other than another Blackjack. If both the player and dealer have Blackjack, the result is a push (tie): neither the player nor the bank wins and the bet is returned to the player.
Before you start playing a game, here are several terms you need to know.
Hit - When the player wants another card from the dealer.
Stand - When the player doesn’t want another card from the dealer.
Bust - When the player or dealer goes over 21.
Push - When the dealer’s and a player’s hands are equal.
Split - When the player has two of the same cards.
